LG has produced several top of the line, but we still be known globally for scoring a long series of low-cost carriers. We are finally with review LG Leon. Check the best and worst about the LG Leon.
The LG Leon smartphone comes with a display very small, but definitely performing. The technical features are not his strong point, we will remember him for what? Obviously due to the presence of the Android operating system updated to 5.0.1 Lollipop.
Design
After finding great success with LG G3 and G4, here also appear in the new low-end devices back buttons. Personally, I’ve never appreciated, why not also in LG Leon I loved the choice of placing the buttons on / off and volume relative to the back-cover.

In addition to this, the terminal has a shell made of plastic, in particular the back cover has a theme almost ‘metallic’, with no physical key on the edges, except on the back. By integrating a display of ‘only’ 4.5 inch, the device does not have too large: 129.9 x 64.9 x 10.9 millimeters, with a total weight (including removable battery) of 137 grams.
Dimensions are in its favor, it is not bulky, is small and very portable. The only flaw, if we must find one, concerns a quite considerable thickness: 10.9 mm are not just a few.
Hardware
The LG Leon integrates a 4.5-inch display (resolution 450 x 854 pixels), 218 ppi and 16 million colors. The screen is small, with a low resolution, but at the same time we felt quite satisfied. Certainly the colors and the details we cannot consider them like a HD or Full HD, but have also been able to involve more than good. The only difficulty we encountered in the input from the keyboard, unfortunately we noticed many problems impressing the right input (it had to do more strength than expected in some cases).
The processor is a MediaTek MT6582 Cortex-A7, quad-core processor, clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with an ARM Mali GPU-400MP2. The part of the house Mediatek we have already seen and reviewed over the course of months, but we must say that the final experience with the LG Leon was quite unsatisfactory. The results with AnTuTu were average (around 19,000 points), but trying to start Asphalt 8, the effect was devastating. We could not play, even see the background graphics application. Completely rejected, at least in our case, the sub processor.
The LG Leon is a Single MicroSIM smart phone present in two different versions: 3G or 4G.
Among the main features we recall also 1GB of RAM, proximity sensors, accelerometer and compass, as well as WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1 and A-GPS.
Camera
From a smartphone to medium-low, in fact, we could not expect anything particularly interesting, and it did. The LG Leon integrates a 5-megapixel main component (in steps to 2592 x 1944 pixels and records in FullHD and 30fps), accompanied by a secondary 0.3 megapixel (shots 640 x 480 pixels).
Overall, the results are perfectly average compared to other low-cost; in conditions of great brightness the detail is not particularly high, but the color balance is more than enough.
In low light, however, the final effect is just enough. The single LED flash manages to illuminate the scene, but not having a maximum color balance, the result is fairly good, but not good. Below you will find all of our tests.

Software and Memory
The most important aspect certainly covers the software sector: Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Nowadays the number of devices with the latest version of Android is not that high, so think of buying a low-cost Lollipop, is already definitely a plus point.
Besides that LG has rightly decided not to customize interfaces and launcher, which is why you will enjoy a peaceful experience pure Android. Of applications pre-installed, if not all Google Apps, we do not find; thanks to this choice the small internal memory is not burdened with unnecessary software that surely we never used.
The LG Leon is marketed with 8GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD up to 32GB), which actually you’ll have about 4-5GB. Because space is reduced very strongly recommend the purchase of additional memory.
Battery and Connectivity
LG Leon there are two versions: one with 3G and one with 4G connectivity. In our case we could try the 3G, but for completeness, remember that you can also buy a 4G-compatible with all frequencies Italian. For the rest, the basic connectivity and fully functional: Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS and WiFi.
The battery is completely removable from 1,900 mAh. The amount, though appearing to be particularly low, is more than enough. In normal use, so with always-on data connection, calls for about 1 hour, web browsing and instant messaging commonly understood, the term stood on 2 consecutive days (the smartphone was turned off at night).
Price
The LG Leon price at Amazon is $149 with T-Mobile carrier.
Conclusions
In conclusion the LG Leon is definitely a good smartphone with the processor a serious flaw. On the positive side, we have:
- Good display
- Camera in line with industry competitors
- Price
- Android operating system with Lollipop
- Release system Knock Code
Including negative ones, however:
- Processor absolutely not recommended
- Smartphone perhaps too often
- 8GB of internal memory are very few
We recommend it? Neither, if you’re looking for a low-end smartphone with discrete characteristics, then it is for you. If you claim a minimum of performance, then look elsewhere.
