Google Street View, in collaboration with the Ministry of culture of Peru, has landed for the first time in the ruins of Machu Picchu. The ancient site was declared a world heritage site by Unesco and is one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Today, the charm of the legendary Inca sanctuary will become navigable from your couch.

Located at 2400 meters above sea level, the huge complex of Machu Picchu is still a mystery to mankind. It is unclear, as its construction has been possible without using mortar or modern machinery. Its great temples, endless walls, terraces and stairways were carved directly on a mountain side and fit together perfectly.

Among the places visited are the various kanchas, or long, narrow build, the Temple of the Sun, the Templo de las Tres Ventanas, the Astronomical Observatory and of course the Templo Principal. Located on the highest peak, this temple was the most important spiritual place of the Incas. Thousands of people gathered under its wide staircase during services, to find themselves in the large Central Plaza that housed social and ceremonial rites.

Thanks to backpacks Trekker, Google Street View was able to penetrate in the Museum Casa Concha Macchu Picchu. The virtual visit to these rooms is available on the website of Google Cultural Institute and to admire hundreds of artifacts dating back to the 15th century.
